Biography

Technical brilliance, sensitive interpretation and an amazingly varied repertoire - for more than 10 years Gottlieb Wallisch has captivated audiences from many of the world’s major concert platforms with his playing.

Born into a family of musicians, he received his first piano lessons at the age of four. At the age of six and half, he began his studies as the then youngest student at the Vienna University of Music. Thereupon followed piano studies in Vienna, Berlin and Paris. A concert in 1996 under the baton of Yehudi Menuhin was the starting point of Gottlieb Wallisch’s international career. Since then, the Viennese musician has been performing solo recitals and appearing with distinguished conductors and orchestras throughout the world. His numerous CD recordings, radio broadcasts, and prizes testify to his enormous individuality. Hallmarks of his playing are its analytical depth and the balance between sensitivity and sovereign virtuosity.
